FADED GLORY WOMEN’S HOODED PUFFER JACKET
I’ll be taking a short hour and a half flight to the BIG ISLAND next week to spend some time with friends. One of the first things on our to do list will be to drive to the top of MAUNA KEA. The top of Mauna Kea is covered in snow right now so my friends and I are excited to see if there’s enough snow to make snow angels. I didn’t want to break the bank when looking for a thick jacket because I won’t be needing it once I get back down from the mountain. I purchased one from Walmart called FADED GLORY WOMEN’S HOODED PUFFER JACKET for $20. It’s your typical puffer jacket but very light and not too insulated which is what I wanted. I will be posting pictures once I get there on my twitter account. I land in Hilo so I will be spending most of my time on that side of the island. I’m not sure if we have it in our plans to see any active volcanoes. If we do, I will share pictures.

SEASIDE INSPIRED SEA URCHIN ORNAMENT
Every year, before or a little after Christmas, I purchase a new ornament that I wrap up and tuck away in my Christmas box to be opened the next holiday season. It’s become a tradition of giving myself and my ohana our first gift of the holiday season to add to our tree. Most of the ornaments on my tree are hand made by relatives or my keikies. Some, I’ve had custom made with names and dates. All remind me of special times and people in my life. This year, I’m going coastal and will be adding the SEA URCHIN ORNAMENT to our collection. My daughter went on a trip to California recently and brought me back several sea urchin shells. I love to showcase my shell collection from around the world in pretty sea glass bowls. During cleaning, I managed to crack all of the sea urchins over the course of several months because they are so delicate. Purchasing this ornament will remind me of my daughter and her thoughtfulness. For more information go to SEASIDE INSPIRED.

WATERMANS APPLIED SCIENCE LIP BALM
At this time of year, I’m not in the sun as much as I am between the months of April-September so I do give my skin a break from wearing sunscreens with high SPF protection. I still have to protect myself because I’m still exposed to the sun when I’m going from place to place. One of the products I use year round that I love is the WATERMANS APPLIED SCIENCE LIP BALM WITH SPF 33. The lip balm is silky and smooth with a sheer color. My lips are left feeling very soft and immediately healed if they are chapped and damaged from the weather. It has been a product that I use almost everyday and I also have one in my beach bag for days at the beach as well. For more information, go to WATERMANS APPLIED SCIENCE

MAC FEELING FLUSH MINERALIZE BLUSH
My blush of choice for the past 4 months has been the MAC FEELING FLUSH MINERALIZE BLUSH. The color leaves me with the perfect color of pink on my cheeks. I typically swipe my blush brush once over the blush mound. This gives me more than enough color for one cheek. Paired with the MAC MINERALIZE SKIN FINISH, the combo has been great for day wear. This color can’t be found anymore at MAC because this color came out a while ago but it is available at AMAZON.COM

MABELLINE BABY LIPS
This product was pretty hard to find here on Kauai. It was sold out of drug stores when it first came out so I had to wait for the second shipment of lip balms to arrive. I personally didn’t like this product because it felt waxy on my lips and it didn’t seem to soften my lips like I thought it would so I passed it on to my teenage daughter. She’s been using it for a few weeks and she really likes it. It softens her lips and gives her a tiny hint of color on days when she wants to put more emphasis on her eye color rather than her lip color. She also likes that it has SPF protection in it making it a product she sometimes puts on first before applying her lipstick or lipgloss color of the day. I purchased this product for a little over $3.

KULA LODGE & RESTAURANT
One of my favorite places to eat and a place that’s dear to my heart is the KULA LODGE & RESTAURANT in Maui, Hawaii. My husband and I spent our honeymoon in Maui 19 years ago and one of the things we did was drive to the top of HALEAKALA NATIONAL PARK to experience the amazing views of Maui at an elevation of over 10,000 feet. On our drive down from the mountain, we stopped at Kula Lodge & Restaurant. I immediately fell in love with the place because it was freezing outside and we were met with a warm fireplace as we entered the doors which made us feel at home. I had a simple dinner. Steak, mashed potatoes and vegetables. It was delicious and exactly what I wanted after our adventure. While dining, we gazed at the beautiful views of upcountry Maui. Years after our honeymoon trip, my sister moved to Maui in a small town called Makawao. Whenever I have the chance to visit her, we fit it in our plans to have breakfast or lunch there. I do prefer the dinner meals as opposed to breakfast and lunch meals. But the views are the best during day hours. You can use the Kula Lodge & Restaurant link that I’ve included in this write up for full restaurant details.
VOLCOM ALL DAY LONG CREEDLERS
If you’ve visited this site before, you already know that I have a lot of slippers. I’m in slippers almost everyday so I’m always on the lookout for what’s cute and comfortable. My newest two pairs are from VOLCOM. You will find me talking about the Volcom brand a lot because I wear a lot of their stuff. The line is edgy, fun and almost everything fits me real good. The ALL DAY LONG CREEDLER is part of the spring 2012 Creedler line and is made with a leather like upper sole, has small studded details for an edgy look, and is very thin making it a light weight slipper. It’s also wearable for almost any type of casual outing. I purchased the black and white pair. But it’s also available in bright turquoise and brown. The slipper retails for $28.
CHAN LUU JEWELRY
CHAN LUU has an amazing collection of high end DIY jewelry. Her collection has pieces made up of high quality leather, semi precious stones, colored cotton cord, crystals, precious pearls and many more. Her pieces are very pricey but so worth the money. Purchases that are made in a store can be returned at any time if there is a defect of any sort. A friend of mine lost one of her semi precious stones in her MIX WRAP BRACELET and she was able to return it to the store and have it fixed by Chan Luu at no cost to her. If ordered through Chan Luu’s online store, there’s a guarantee of a replacement or full refund if your jewelry is incorrect or defective in any way. I’ve included a video featuring the spring/summer 2012 collection.
